Celebrating Citrus
As part of the November 2nd Saturday in the Garden, several activities are planned to promote citrus in Placer County.
10:00 A.M. – Demonstration on Making Citrus Peel Candy, presented by a UC Master Food Preserver; tastings and recipes will be provided
Noon – Citrus in Placer From Planting to Harvest, presented by Robert Bonk, from Snow’s Citrus
The Citrus Pest and Disease Prevention Program will staff an informational table in the garden throughout the day.
A companion workshop, Creating Native Bee Habitats, will be presented in the Loomis Library from 10:30 – 11:30 A.M.
As usual for a “Second Saturday in the Garden” event, Master Gardeners will be on hand to explain what is happening in the garden and answer questions. The garden is home to two citrus plants, one of which has already produced fruit in its first year. The 12 different garden
beds, curated and maintained by Master Gardeners, showcase a wide variety of plants, many of which are native species and drought and heat-tolerant.
